Orange Tulip – May 2011

Except for the front of the house, beside the steps, any tulips that are already coming up are hidden beneath the fallen leaves, which were not raked up at end of year. It is my hope, therefore, that they will not be killed off by frost or the predicted sleet, tomorrow, nor by the snow on Sunday through Wednesday, with highs predicted to be from 37 °F – 47 °F. I’m not sure how many tulips will bloom after the past two years of up-and-down temperatures during the relevant growing periods. Perhaps they still lie there dormant beneath ground, waiting to surprise me, this Spring.
